Senior Machine Learning & Data Engineer

We're seeking a Senior Machine Learning & Data Engineer to play a key role in building and scaling our enterprise data platform and machine learning capabilities. This newly created role offers the opportunity to influence strategy, architecture, and technology decisions while delivering solutions that drive business value and future innovation.
About the Role
You will draw on your expertise to design, build, and optimise scalable data and machine learning platforms that support analytics, operational insights, connected products, and AI initiatives across the business.
Working closely with business stakeholders, engineers, and technology partners, you'll help establish the foundations for Nanosonics' data-driven future.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-based data platforms and pipelines.
- Build and optimise data products, curated datasets, and ML-ready data solutions.
- Support machine learning initiatives through feature engineering, data preparation, and operationalisation.
- Drive engineering excellence through automation, CI/CD, testing, and best-practice development standards.
- Contribute to data architecture, governance, security, and privacy frameworks.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and deliver data-driven business outcomes.
- Influence the strategic direction of Nanosonics' data and AI capabilities.
About You
You are a hands-on data engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with commercial thinking and a passion for innovation.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data platforms in AWS or similar cloud environments.
- Strong expertise in Python, SQL, data modelling, and modern data engineering tools such as dbt, Snowflake, Airflow, Databricks, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting machine learning and AI solutions in production environments.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Experience within healthcare, medtech, life sciences, or regulated environments will be highly regarded.
