Senior Preclinical Development Scientist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Preclinical Development Scientist to join our team on a 15-month contract and play a critical role in advancing the safety and efficacy of our product portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead scientifically rigorous preclinical development programs within a collaborative, commercially focused medical technology environment.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Preclinical Development Scientist, you will be responsible for the preclinical development of Nanosonics’ products, ensuring alignment with regulatory and market requirements for safety and efficacy.

You will design scientifically robust studies, interpret complex data, contribute to hazard analyses and risk assessments, and collaborate cross-functionally to support product development and commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Review international standards, guidelines and scientific literature to define safety and efficacy requirements
• Conduct literature reviews to support hazard analysis, risk assessments and broader research objectives
• Develop and execute preclinical protocols aligned to regulatory and state-of-the-art requirements
• Provide scientific input into clinical testing protocols and external study design
• Coordinate external testing activities, including equipment and material supply
• Analyse and interpret research data, including statistical analysis
• Prepare high-quality study reports and contribute to manuscripts and presentations
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with ISO13485 and internal QMS requirements
• Collaborate closely with R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Quality and Marketing teams
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment

About You

You are a scientifically rigorous, commercially aware researcher who thrives in cross-functional environments. You bring strong analytical capability, sound judgement, and the ability to translate complex science into clear, practical outcomes.

You will have:

• PhD in a Life Sciences discipline
• 5–10 years’ experience in preclinical or analytical research
• Demonstrated experience leading research projects
• Experience in infection control or microbiology (strongly preferred)
• Experience working within a commercial product development environment
• Experience operating within a Quality Management System (ISO13485 desirable)
• Strong statistical analysis skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
