ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist to join our Bioscience team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge microbiological and biochemical research in a dynamic, high-performing laboratory environment.
The Opportunity
As an Associate Scientist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality laboratory testing and data analysis to support R&D programs. Working closely with Research and Senior Scientists, you will manage experiments with minimal supervision while contributing to continuous improvement within the lab.
You will also provide guidance to Technicians and help maintain strong laboratory standards aligned with ISO13485, GLP and QMS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct varied microbiological and biochemical testing, analysing and interpreting data with accuracy and rigour
- Perform routine laboratory testing independently using sound scientific techniques
- Execute planned R&D activities under direction of senior researchers
- Analyse results and clearly communicate findings, discrepancies or areas requiring further investigation
- Produce clear, well-structured technical reports for internal review
- Maintain accurate documentation including Electronic Lab Books, raw data and analysed reports in accordance with ISO13485 and GLP requirements
- Train and supervise Technicians in Standard Test Methods
- Assist with laboratory equipment operation and maintenance
- Contribute to the development and updating of SOPs and Standard Test Methods
About You
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar laboratory-based role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Sound knowledge of microbiological and biochemical techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification equivalent to a Master’s degree in Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline
