ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST

We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join our dynamic Bioscience team. In this role, you will conduct microbiological and biochemical testing, analyse data with precision, and contribute to advancing research and product development initiatives. You will also mentor junior team members and ensure laboratory practices meet the highest quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform varied microbiological and biochemical tests, accurately analyse experimental data, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Work effectively with senior team members with minimal supervision.
  • Generate, review, and maintain Work Instructions (WIQs) and Standard Test Methods (STMs) to support smooth laboratory operations.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior and new staff in scientific techniques and quality procedures.
  • Ensure all experimental details are documented accurately and in a timely manner using Electronic Lab Books (e.g. SciNote).
  • Identify and troubleshoot out-of-specification or trending results under senior guidance.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO13485, GLP requirements, and Nanosonics' Quality Management System.
  • Assist in procurement, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Adhere to Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability policies.

You will work closely with internal teams including Bioscience, Research and Product Development, Verification and Validation, Clinical Affairs, Quality, Production, and Facilities. You may also engage with external service providers and contract laboratories.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related Biological Science discipline (essential).
  • 1–3 years in a relevant laboratory environment.

Skills & Knowledge:

    • Strong aseptic microbiological techniques.
    • Ability to work independently and show initiative.
    • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word essential).
  • A strong team player, self-starter, eager to learn, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
