We're seeking a passionate Category Specialist to join our high-performing Procurement team and help deliver sustainable value through strategic sourcing and category management.

About the Role

As a Category Specialist, you’ll be responsible for managing procurement activities, supplier relationships, and strategic sourcing initiatives across a defined portfolio of products and suppliers. You will be accountable for supply continuity and act as a subject matter expert in your category, driving outcomes that align with business objectives, KPIs, and best practice procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier selection, onboarding, and evaluation within your assigned category portfolio.
  • Ensure efficient inventory management in collaboration with Supply Chain Planners.
  • Manage supplier relationships, performance metrics, and improvement plans.
  • Implement sustainable and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Develop and execute category strategies to meet short- and long-term business goals.
  • Identify and deliver cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
  • Negotiate contracts, set standard costs, and manage purchase price variance.
  • Monitor market trends to optimize pricing, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans across supply chains.
  • Support change management and cross-functional collaboration for procurement initiatives.
  • Provide reporting, contribute to process improvements, and support colleagues as required.
  • Ensure compliance with QMS and OHS policies and procedures.

What You Bring

  • 1–3 years’ experience in sourcing, purchasing, or supplier management (ideally in a global manufacturing or medical device environment).
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of supplier capability and cost structures.
  • Knowledge of procurement, packaging, and labelling within a regulated industry.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics365 preferred) and document management systems.
  • Skilled in data analysis, supplier performance management, and contract negotiation.
  • Financial literacy and ability to interpret P&L statements.
  • Knowledge of GMP and Quality Management Systems.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
