Laboratory Technician - Bioscience

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Scientist, our Lab Technician plays a key role in performing laboratory tests following Standard Test Methods (STMs) and Work Instructions (WIQs) to support medical device product development.  You will also accurately document and report experimental details and raw data in a timely manner, while maintaining laboratory operations, including stock management, equipment upkeep, and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare media, sterilize equipment, and conduct microbiological testing (e.g., Gram staining, TVCs, CFUs, biochemical assays).
  • Handle microorganisms including S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, E. coli, and others in accordance with PC2 guidelines.
  • Contribute to method development, verification/validation, and efficacy testing of medical devices.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant lab records in the electronic lab notebook, adhering to GLP and ISO13485.
  • Analyse and report raw data and assist in compiling final data reports.
  • Review and help generate standard test methods and work instructions.
  • Support collaborative testing with third-party labs as needed.
  • Perform environmental monitoring and ensure adherence to safety and compliance standards.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and professional development activities.

What You Bring

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Laboratory Technology (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a PC2 accredited microbiology lab.
  • Proficient in aseptic microbiological techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a self-driven mindset.
